Daniella Brodsky was born in Queens, New York and always loved to write stories. She never thought she could do it for a living until one day she decided, well WHY NOT? The rest, as they say, is history (okay it was a lot of work and feeling horribly inadequate and surviving off of Ramen noodles and free drinks, too, but it sounds so much better that way). She lived in New York City for 11 years, including four as a student at New York University. Recently, she relocated to Middletown, CT, where she spends her time writing, renovating her new (old) home and learning about things such as driving, and where pumpkins come from (shocker—it's not the corner bodega!), and trying to co-exist with spiders and deer.

Daniella Brodsky's debut novel, Diary of a Working Girl ( Berkley , Penguin), hit bookstores on April 6th '04. New York Times Best Selling novelist, Nora Roberts, said of the New York City love story, “This is so much fun!” Diary is the story of magazine writer Lane Silverman, who would do anything for love and a good story. Here's what book industry publication Booklist says: “Readers will simply love Lane and her wild imagination.”

Daniella's second work of fiction, The Waitress, was published by the same house in the short story anthology, Never on a Sundae in December '04. Next came her sophomore novel, Princess of Park Avenue (Berkley, Penguin) , the tragicomedy about sassy hairstylist Lorraine Machuchi, who sadly lost her sense of self through years of being in love with Mr. Wrong, but stumbles across a fantastic chance to set things right for herself.

Her most recent title, The Velvet Rope Diaries, focuses in on Anna Walker, a 29-year old woman who's lived most of her life believing she's responsible for her father's death in a devastating house fire. Instead of facing her fears and moving on, she's been doing little more than existing ever since. But now she's been given the opportunity to live her dream by writing a column of her very own—sure it's about nightlife, a topic she knows nothing about, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. Does Anna have what it takes to conquer her demons and achieve this dream now that it's actually staring her in the face?

You can read more of Daniella's city girl fiction, while perusing the best spots for a cocktail and everything else a girl needs to know to party right in Gotham and look great doing it, in her other current title, The Girl's Guide to New York Nightlife 2nd Edition (amazon.com). She's still nursing a few hangovers from researching that book!

She reports on beauty, fashion, dining, relationships, shopping and travel for such publications as Cosmopolitan, The New York Post, The Hartford Courant, Time Out NY, Shape, Men's Health, Self, Gotham and Fitness.
